Two payments. Still high?

After solar, two payments showed up — the utility and the solar arrangement. The totals do not match what you remember being told. A review is about clarity on the paperwork, not a promise that the bills will drop.

What you need

  • Two or three recent utility bills
  • Your solar loan, lease, or power purchase agreement and a recent statement
  • The savings estimate or proposal, if you kept it

What this usually looks like

Utility plus solar adds up differently than expected

You were shown one monthly picture. What arrives now is a utility bill and a solar payment, and the combined amount is not the figure you had in mind.

The utility bill never went away

A system that covers only part of your usage, or a connection charge that never leaves the bill, can leave a utility statement in place alongside the solar payment.

The estimate and the arithmetic disagree

Some proposals compare against a future utility rate, leave out fixed charges, or assume production that the system is not matching month to month.

Billing began before the system helped

If the solar payment started while the system was still waiting on inspection or permission to operate, both obligations arrived before any offset showed up.

What we would look at

We read the agreement next to the estimate and the bills you can find. That is clarity work. It is not a lower-bill promise, and it does not change what you owe on its own.

  • The savings estimate or proposal you were shown, next to the agreement you actually signed.
  • When the solar payment began, against when the system was switched on.
  • Your recent utility bills beside a recent solar statement, to see what each is covering.
  • Anything the salesperson put in writing: texts, emails, a printed sheet.

What to bring

Bring what you can find. A partial file is still worth reviewing.

  • Two or three recent utility bills
  • Your solar loan, lease, or power purchase agreement and a recent statement
  • The savings estimate or proposal, if you kept it
  • A screenshot from the monitoring app, if you have one
