Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. Written in plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.

1. Who we are and what this covers

Solar Contract Services LLC ("Solar Contract Services," "we," "us") operates solarcontractservices.com and the document review offered on it. This policy applies to this website and to the information you give us through it: the questions you answer, the documents you upload, and any call or email that follows.

It does not cover any law firm or other service provider you may later choose to work with. They have their own privacy practices, and we will tell you who they are before any introduction happens.

Participating partners fund our operations. Homeowners do not pay for a review, and no provider pays us a referral fee or other payment for an individual introduction.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the review needs, and we ask for it one step at a time so you can see what each question is for. Depending on how far you go, that includes:

Contact details
Your name, email, phone number, property address, city and ZIP code, how you prefer to be reached, the best time to reach you, your language, and how you heard about us.
Your solar agreement
The type of agreement (loan, lease, power purchase agreement, or cash), who installed the system, who sold it, the lender or servicer, when you signed, whether the system is working, whether you own and live in the home, and whether someone already represents you.
Money and credit
Your monthly solar payment, utility bill, remaining balance, interest rate, payment status, how the tax credit was used, whether a balloon payment is expected, a credit score range you choose from a list, and whether you are in an active bankruptcy. These are the figures you tell us. We do not pull a credit report.
Your account of what happened
The experiences you flag, anything you write in your own words, and how urgent your situation is and why.
Documents you upload
Agreements, loan or lease paperwork, statements, and letters. These often contain more than we ask for, such as your street address, account numbers, signatures, and other details printed on them.
Public-record search results (only if you opt in)
Official county or state property, permit, and recorded-filing information returned when we search using your name and property address. We use free public sources only, and we do not pull a credit report or buy document images.
Consent records
Which boxes you checked, the exact wording you saw and its version, the name you typed to confirm, the time, your IP address, and your browser type. We keep these so both of us can prove what you agreed to.
Self-check answers
If you use the free self-check, the answers you give and the result it shows you. These are kept so the result can be re-checked later; they are not tied to your name unless you go on to start a review.
Scheduling
If you book a call, the time you pick and the details you enter into the scheduling form.
Technical data
IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, the page that referred you, and cookies. See "Cookies, analytics, and session replay" below.

3. How we use it

We use the information above to:

  • Read your documents and your answers to prepare a review of your agreement.
  • If you opt in, search official public-record sources using your name and property address to gather property, permit, and recorded-filing information for your review file.
  • Contact you about that review, by the method you chose.
  • Identify a law firm or other service provider for an introduction, but only if you ask us to and only after telling you who they are.
  • Keep records of the consents you gave, and honor the ones you withdraw.
  • Run, secure, and improve the website.
  • Meet our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. AI-assisted document reading

When you upload a document, software reads it to pull out the fields the review needs: the lender, the rate, the payment, the key dates. Part of that reading is done by an AI model provided by Anthropic. Your document is sent to Anthropic over an encrypted connection, the fields are extracted, and the result is returned to us. Under our agreement with Anthropic, your documents are not used to train its models.

What the software finds is shown back to you to confirm or correct, and is used by our team in the review. The software does not decide anything about your situation on its own.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, marketers, or anyone else, and we do not send your documents to anyone unless you ask us to. We share information only in these ways:

Companies that work for us
Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and private document storage), Anthropic (AI document reading, described above), Resend (email delivery), Calendly (call scheduling), Contentsquare (analytics and session replay on our marketing pages only), our internal intake and case-tracking system, and Slack (alerts to our team when a new review arrives). Each of them may use your information only to provide its service to us.
Official public-record sources (only if you opt in)
We send your name and property address to the relevant county or state public-record source to run the search you authorized. Those sources publish their own privacy notices and may keep their own access logs.
A provider we identify at your request
If, after your review, you ask us to make an introduction, we may identify a law firm or other provider whose stated scope fits the information you gave us. We tell you who they are before sharing anything, and you can change your mind at any point before the introduction happens. Participating partners fund our operations, but no provider pays us a referral fee or other payment for an individual introduction.
When the law requires it
To comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of you, us, or others.
If our business changes hands
If Solar Contract Services is merged, acquired, or sells its assets, your information may transfer with it. This policy will continue to apply, and we will notify you of any change in who is responsible for your information.

6. Cookies, analytics, and session replay

Essential cookies
A resume cookie lets you leave an unfinished review and come back to it. Security cookies protect the forms. Neither is used for advertising, and there is no account to log in to.
Analytics and session replay
On our public marketing pages we use Contentsquare to understand how visitors use the site. It records how a page is used, including scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement, and can replay that to us. It does not run on the self-check, the review, or any page where you answer questions or upload documents. If you enter the review from a marketing page, we tell it to stop, and it sets a cookie (_cs_optout) that keeps it off in your browser afterward. Contentsquare sets cookies and may collect information about your visits to this site over time; we do not use it to track you across other websites.
Advertising measurement (Meta Pixel)
Our public pages and the self-check may load the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, Inc. It tells Meta that a page was viewed and whether the self-check was started or finished. Meta also receives the technical information your browser sends with any web request, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page address, and may set a cookie or, if you are logged in to Facebook in that browser, connect the visit to your account. We use this to measure our advertising and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. We do not send Meta your self-check answers or result, your name, your contact details, or any document you share with us, and the pixel does not run on the pages where you apply, upload documents, or view your case. You can limit it by blocking third-party cookies and through the ad preferences in your Meta account. Apart from this tool, we do not knowingly allow third parties to collect information about your activity over time and across other websites.
Browser signals
Our site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control browser signals. Every choice in this policy can be exercised by emailing us.

7. Calls, texts, and emails

  • We email you about your review from solarcontractservices.com addresses. Those messages are part of the service you asked for.
  • Calls and texts using automated technology or prerecorded messages happen only if you check the optional box on the consent step. That box is never required, and leaving it unchecked does not affect your review. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, tell us on any call, or email us.
  • We record calls only with your consent. Some states require every person on a call to agree, so we will ask before recording.
  • We do not currently send marketing newsletters. If we start, every message will include a way to unsubscribe.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide and follow up on your review, to maintain the consent records described above, to comply with our legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. When you ask us to delete your information, we delete or de-identify it, except for records we are required to keep, such as the record that you gave or withdrew a consent, and anything subject to a legal hold.

Documents sent to a provider at your request are held by that provider under its own policy. Ask them directly, or ask us and we will point you to the right person.

9. How we protect it

Information travels to us over encrypted connections. Uploaded documents are kept in private storage that is not publicly reachable, and links to them expire within minutes. Access is limited to the people who need it to do the review.

No way of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never happen. If one affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

10. Your choices and rights

Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you and send you a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete your information, subject to the records we must keep (see "How long we keep it").
  • Withdraw a consent you gave, including consent to calls, texts, or a public-record search.
  • Tell you which service providers, if any, we shared your information with at your request.

To make a request, email info@solarcontractservices.com from the address you gave us, or include enough detail for us to confirm it is you. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need more time. Requests are free, and we will not treat you differently for making one. Someone you authorize may make a request for you; we may ask for proof of that authorization.

State privacy laws
If you live in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, or Virginia), you may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and the right to appeal a decision on your request. Email us to exercise any of them. If we deny a request, we will tell you why and how to appeal.
Nevada residents
Nevada law lets you direct a website operator not to sell covered information about you. We do not sell it, but you may submit that request by email and we will honor and record it. You may also review the information we hold and request changes to it through the same address.

11. Children

This site is for homeowners and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new effective date and version number. If a change materially affects how we use or share information you already gave us, we will also post a notice on this page and, if you have an open review, email you at the address on file. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

13. Contact us

Questions, requests, or concerns about this policy or your information: email Solar Contract Services LLC at info@solarcontractservices.com. Please put "Privacy" in the subject line so it reaches the right person quickly.
